Drupal 8

On 7 April 2021, World Health Day, we relaunched the UNESCO Health and Education Resource Centre, a knowledge sharing initiative provided by UNESCO for the education sector.

The library is a collection of more than 6,000 downloadable resources, evidence and research, policies and strategies, teaching and learning materials, and guidance and practical tools. It also presents news and webinars and updates about events from around the world. We implemented a faceted search that enables easy access to the library.

GreenNet responded to UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning's RFP to upgrade and rebrand their popular HIV Information Clearinghouse website with a proposal that included a custom redesign by wave.coop, and a full migration of the multilingual library contents from Drupal 7 to 8. We transferred their store of over 13,000 items of multilingual content using a staging site to connect with UNESCO’s server architecture.

The new HERC library is fully multilingual in 4 languages, it features a custom mobile responsive visual design created by Karen at wave, coded as a standards compliant Drupal theme by GreenNet developers.

We also worked with IIEP and wave on a neat supplementary microsite that sits alongside the HERC Library: UNESCO’s Comprehensive Sexuality Education Implementation Toolkit, using design and brand assets from the main site.

Caabu wanted to upgrade their main website from Drupal 6 to Drupal 8, the latest version with a full content migration of their extensive archives of news and campaigning materials into a new visual design.

We implemented Caabu's multilingual content in Arabic using Drupal's translation functions and a mobile responsive custom theme by Sarah macbeth that works both right-to-left and left-to-right.

We enjoyed this project which involved creative use of open tech for gender equality - just the sort of thing GreenNet likes best!

Women's Engineering Society were funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and worked with Wellcome Foundation to carry out this innovative project, celebrating 100 years of WES and aiming to increase recognition of women engineers. We were involved at an early stage to plan the technical proposal the and contribute to the funding bid.

We built a map that uses Wikidata to access live structured data from wikipedia to display new addtions of notable women engineers to Wikipedia, the map is searchable and pulls information and images featured on each pin from wikipedia. WES ran events and a comms campaign to encourage constributions.

WES has had many notable members with fascinating lives and careers, yet the only member who features widely in the popular historical narrative is pilot Amy Johnson. Our WES Centenary Map aims to help redress this, by showcasing new and improved Wikipedia entries about historical women engineers as pins on our map.

The Wikipedia and Wikidata entries the map is based on are being generated by volunteers, trained and engaged through Wikithons around the country, supported by research into the WES and other archives. We plan to have 200 map pins of historic WES members to explore by the end of the project in May 2020. The map is going to evolve over the lifespan of the project, pins will move to new places as the entries in Wikipedia and Wikidata change and evolve.

Occasionally we are asked to help with campaigns where for reasons e.g. physical safety of activists, security and confidentiality is absolutely paramount - so we can't  tell you the URL or client's name in this case. Hopefully it would be pretty difficult to work out any connections.

The project aim is to gather news from sources within a group of states where press freedom is weak. Thesite is a multilingial repository for news - a blog in 6 (non-Latinate) languages, it aims to encourage whistleblowing by offering a secure confidential maildrop, and assures untraceability.

The site stores no records, and is protected by several layers of security and obfuscation measures. We partnered with deflect.ie to protect the site from DDOD or infiltration.

UNESCO asked us to help them put together a neat and tidy website to publish updates on the Strategic Development Goal 4 - Education.

We focussed on making the site quick and intuitive to edit and update. We worked with them to build the site from the ground up on a brand new Drupal 8, adding features and functions as new requirements arose.

Sarah Macbeth provided a stunning visual design with custom tiles, Marek used Drupal taxonomies and plumbed in a nifty front page revealer to make the navigation simple and adaptive for all types of screen. We got to work with some of UNESCO’s amazing photo library images.

The website was presented at 4th SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee meeting, 28 February 2018, UNESCO HQ, Paris to great acclaim

We've worked with EWP for many years, and it was time to refresh their online presence. We helped them select a responsive theme on the latest version of Drupal, and tweaked it to display EWP's brand identity.

The site enables them to publish updates about their new campaigns and latest news through the Drupal dashboard.

We rebuilt their membership signup and listings functions with an interactive map customised to display regions where EWP members work.

We upgraded WES's trusty Drupal site to zingy responsive Drupal 8 with a new structure that shows off their amazing online resources and highlight WES member role models.

We worked with  designer Sarah Macbeth to create a custom visual theme in WES's distinctive livery.
