We love it when we are approached with a clear concept for an online tool that will have a real life impact.

ActNow asked us to create a website where people in Papua New Guinea can rate their District Development Authority and get access to key documents in order to promote transparency and accountability in PNG.

The website had to be accessible on mobile phones over low bandwidth, and to provide simple intuitive interfaces combined with security measures to prevent abuse of the ratings system and attacks on the website.

We built the ratings system in Drupal to ActNow's detailed specification and used Drupal core and contributed modules to add commenting and image uploads for users, a news feed and custom landing pages.

We worked with Karen from Wave on visual design, Marek and Liz from GreenNet worked on the Drupal customisation and themeing

The Toolkit was produced by IIEP in partnership with the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV and is aimed at adolescents and young people living with HIV, in both the formal and informal education sectors.

The online version is available in 3 languages and features custom design, illustrations and icons by Wave. UNESCO launched the Positive Learning Toolkit on World AIDS day 2022

We rebuilt WRM's trusty multilingual WordPress in a brand new Drupal 8. WRM wanted a clean design and improved ways to edit their content and run their website.

We consulted Wave for visual design and worked closely with WRM colleagues internationally using our private jitsi channel for regular meeting with GreenNet devs and project manager in Spain and UK.

The website is hosted on GreenNet's ethically managed and sustainably powered servers.

UNESCO Health Education Resource Centre and Toolkit

On 7 April 2021, World Health Day, we relaunched the UNESCO Health and Education Resource Centre, a knowledge sharing initiative provided by UNESCO for the education sector.

The library is a collection of more than 6,000 downloadable resources, evidence and research, policies and strategies, teaching and learning materials, and guidance and practical tools. It also presents news and webinars and updates about events from around the world. We implemented a faceted search that enables easy access to the library.

GreenNet responded to UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning's RFP to upgrade and rebrand their popular HIV Information Clearinghouse website with a proposal that included a custom redesign by wave.coop, and a full migration of the multilingual library contents from Drupal 7 to 8. We transferred their store of over 13,000 items of multilingual content using a staging site to connect with UNESCO’s server architecture.

The new HERC library is fully multilingual in 4 languages, it features a custom mobile responsive visual design created by Karen at wave, coded as a standards compliant Drupal theme by GreenNet developers.

We also worked with IIEP and wave on a neat supplementary microsite that sits alongside the HERC Library: UNESCO’s Comprehensive Sexuality Education Implementation Toolkit, using design and brand assets from the main site.

Safe Abortion Women's Right

Submitted by ed on
Body

We've worked with The International Campaign for Women's Right to Safe Abortion for a few years, since we started hosting their old WordPress website while Sarah at Kestrel Copy fixed it up. When the time came for an upgrade we put in a bid and were thrilled to have our proposal accepted, working in partnership with Wave.coop.

We held a planning session with Wave and SAWR to create the new architecture, ensuring that their deep archives of news and libraries of articles were presented optimally for findability and accessibility.

The project was not altogether straightforward because the environment for campaigning NGOs is demanding and at one stage we had to pause for a few months while the campaign focussed on overcoming irl challenges, but we persevered together and were really happy with the outcome!

The ICWRSA Annual Report January 2020 – December 2021 details the success of the new website.

We were delighted to launch the new website in October 2020. At over four years of age, our previous website had been in need of an overhaul for some time, so we teamed up with socially-conscious web developers GreenNet and design cooperative Wave to revitalise our digital presence. Development of the site has been ongoing throughout 2021. The new site features better images, easier navigation, optimisation for mobile devices, and more resources to help support our network of member organisations and individuals working tirelessly for women’s right to safe abortion worldwide.

This website is hosted Green - checked by thegreenwebfoundation.orgThe new website features a stunning custom visual design by Karen at Wave, coded as a fully responsive custom WordPress theme by Julian at Wave, Liz at GreenNet handled the complex content migration, and it's all hosted on GreenNet's renewably powered servers!

We were thrilled to win the commission to rebuild our existing customer's website, an update to IER's trusty Drupal 6.

Working with IER staff and Wave.coop we planned a restructure of their website architecture and selected WordPress CMS. Karen at Wave created a wonderful custom visual design and updated IER's branding. Liz at GreenNet painstakingly migrated the entire IER content archive including membership and news archives from Drupal to WP, and consulting closely with IER, we re-built the library, shop and subscriptions systems .

The new website is the heart of IER's operations, handling membership and sales of publications as well as feeding their essential email broadcasts.

Public Law Project

We launched Public Law Project's new website in July 2018, it features a custom visual design, resources library and events booking system, on a whizzy Wordpress CMS.

The project involved migrating PLP’s deep archives of online materials in a number of distinct thematic and content categories from a proprietary Content Management System, which also handled their bulk email and CRM. We mapped their content into a new structure and commissioned custom visual designs from wave.coop.

A key part of the project was to redefine the site’s information structure to connect content across different sections of the site using a simple scheme of icons and colours. We guided PLP though several rounds of feedback on the designs, and on the themed site itself, working closely with Wave’s designer, until we reached a pixel-perfect product to their and the client’s satisfaction.

We also helped to extract, clean and re-segment PLP’s important CRM data, working with them to ensure compliance with the new requirements of GDPR in our role as Data Processor on PLP’s behalf.
